Maude The Taude

Hello All!!

Maude (Bowler Hat), Tatiana (Red Head Left), Me (Moschino Bag)

My best friend has arrived to NYC and I couldn't be happier! I had the chance to go to Halleh's gallery today to pick out some outfits for her and I wanted to take everything home! She really had some cool piece's (one of which she sold to Lady GaGa). Halleh had such a great vibe and was really inspirational (she was wearing an oversized T-shirt with vintage prints that I would've ripped off her tiny  body if I could). Her stuff is really unique and I could see her doing very well in the indie MTL market. She might do a style profile on her website about me, so you guys might have a little treat coming your way! The rest of the day was spend with my boss Nazira at "The Bean" (Corner of 1st Ave and East 3rd St and their Quiches are awesome.). I tried to get work done but I was continuously distracted by the window painters dog. He followed her everywhere I've never seen anything like it. The artist mentionned a pop-up gallery she'll be working at so once I get more information about that, I'll be sure to post it! When I finally got down to work,  I had the chance to write up my second press release and this time it's for our clien Nitika Chopra. She has a website called YourBellaLife.com. She's all about "adding color to your life" which pretty much means she helps you discover how to do things in a more positive way. Her website is a great guide of NYC from food to fashion, but with her own spin on it. This is one of the reasons I love my Internship, I am really getting a chance to discover all these special types of people that I would never of had the chance to do in Montreal.

You can check out Nitika at: http://yourbellalife.com/

Fashion 26

Hello All!

Last monday I was invited by my friend Mark to the opening of the Fashion 26 Hotel (Wyndham) in Chelsea! I brought along my amazing roommate Marion and my new found friend Edith. We got to enjoy some yummy cocktails and mini-burgers! The hotel is adorable, there's a resto called Rare attached. Amazing location, rumour had it that Sydney Crosby was there, I cannot confirm or deny this! lol...Location is great, food was great and alcohol is always great soooo if you're ever looking to book a hotel...check it out!

    Music All Around...!

One thing that I've noticed is that music is everywhere! New Yorkers are in their own world and apparently that world is full of music. From the subways to the steps outside my door, I feel like I'm in a movie; my every step is followed by a beat. It's definitely something that is unique to NY, people will just belt out a song at the most random of times and occasioanlly you have those who just start dancing out of no where. Then there's me whose looking around to see if anyone is paying attention to these sporadic outbursts...they aren't lol! I'm the only one whose thrown by it.

Another thing that is NY only, MEANEST CAB DRIVERS. My roommate and I had the displeasure of meeting the world's rudest cab driver. It was late and we had left only 1$ tip because thats what we automatically punch in when trips are short but this time he brought us to Brooklyn for 13$. He starts going off on us as if we've just left without paying at all. Every mean name in the book you can imagine he called us, we tried to give him another 1$ but he wouldn't take it, he preferred to follow us in his cab yelling at us at the top os his lungs! Suffice to say, I cross my fingers every time I take a cab and hope it isn't him!

    Beautiful Day In Central Park!

My second weekend in NYC was spent with some friends in beautiful Central Park. I discovered for the first time Strawberry Fields, where people get together in the memory of John Lennon and sing his songs or even leave flowers. This park kind of puts our beloved Mont Royal to shame...the only thing that was missing was the sword fighters! Lying on the grass listening to TamTams just isn't the same without the random cries of war coming from their corner!

    Halehhhh!

    Hey Hey!

I just started working with a new designer named Haleh (website is in previous post). Her stuff is very unique and I'm excited that she will be lending me and my best friend some outfits this weekend so we can test them out on the city and see what kind of feedback we can get! This could be great exposure for her so we'll be sure to take lots and lots of pictures for you guys! Here are some of my favorites from her fall/winter 2010 collection!

    The Adventure Begins!

    Hello Hello!

My internship is great and I'm learning a lot! I've written my first press pitch and release for a NYC designer called KAT Basics (a little tid bit will be attached at the end). My boss is the sweetest person, so all in all I've been pretty lucky (besides the computer melt-down that is!). On my second day, my boss and I attended the accessories circuit at Pier 94 which proved to be a great experience. I really got to put myself out there and meet designers. Our focus was to find new emerging designers because we are new to the PR scene as well. Completely fell in love with some designers (I'll be posting their websites shortly) and we plan on contacting them in the weeks to come (kind of like when you first meet a guy, you dont want to look to eager :p). Here are some of the clients I've been working with:

    Jess Rizutti (Amazing Handbags) http://www.jessrizzuti.com/
    Kat Basics (Clothing) http://www.katbasics.com/
Kelly Carlson from Nip/Tuck Wearing the Stella Body Suit from Kat Basics

    Sarah Jenks (Bridal Nutritionist) http://thebreathtakingbride.com/
Haleh Nematzadeh (Clothing) http://halehnematzadeh.com/ (Pictures to come soon!)

    Technology hates me!

I have had a horrible relationship with technology over the years, and it seems to have followed me over the boarder! Three days into my internship and I caught a virus. Kindly enough, my cousin sends over her laptop a week later... Three days after... ANOTHER VIRUS! As you can see, I've been extremely frustrated and have been postponing my blogging project! So I've purchased a new laptop and hopefully will remain virus free! Recap of my internship so far to follow! :)
